MOS MAIORVM is a cultural non-profit making organization - based in Rome – with an interest in the study, re-enactment and historical reconstruction of the ancient Roman period from IV to I century BC, with reference to all the aspects of the Roman civilization - military, civil and religious - but also with a keen interest in the other Italic archaic peoples.
Rome, in the first centuries of its long history, was just one of the many cities of central Italy struggling for hegemony - as well as for survival.
For this reason, in our opinion the most fascinating and interesting period of that history is the one that unfolds through the interactions with other contemporary Peoples of Italy, those "neighbors" (Etruscans, Latins, Sabines, Volscians, Equi, Ernici, Falisci, Marsi, Samnites) with whom Rome made alliances from time to time, expressing its strong and early vocation to diplomacy, or against whom it went to war, not always successful, or that it decided to merge with.
But what we like the most of the primitive Rome is beyond a doubt its ability to consider the differences not as obstacles but as opportunities to explore and exploit. It’s a spirit we always keep in mind in our community life.
At MOS MAIORVM, in this broad historical context, we have divided our activities into several projects, realized in collaboration with partner associations; each project attempts to examine and, in our intent, "bring back to life" different realities of Italy in the antiquity.
